@AzukiMinaduki It's still not refined enough, I would resample it more. Go @ Kick topic, this is for design discussion and troubleshooting

back at it.. hinting some time starts where it sound good to position the mid punch when sub kick is either around 0:00:050 or 0:00:090

I'm not sure if I can give 100% good advice but I think you will get a good tok if you layer the mid part from trance kicks (10 - 20 layers), and then highpass, reverb, distort, eq mids, and clip it. You can also try some bitcrushing with the distortion for interesting results.
At first I thought maybe I can make that sound with a 909, but I don't think that's what people do. I tried it, and got good results eventually. But it was too much effort with eq, reverb, phase distortion, clip distortion and so on.
I shared my mid punch samples in another thread, I made them just like how I described.

The samples in "Mid Punches 2" are all made with 909 Drumazon.

Layering is usually key with this.. try layering bits of distorted trash together to make something with more texture

Wow, 10-20 layers for the tok haha. But yeah, will try it out, thanks!

I think people have just moved to using Discord and/or Facebook groups instead.

Hm yea. I feel like forums are better in a way though, discord and facebook creates so much procrastination in my opinion. Although, it is what it is...

Hmm. Never been on either - why would it lead to more procrastination?

As to kicks, for me its still unclear tbh what - on an abstract, clearly definable level - makes for a good kick. For me its a lot of playing around waiting for something that I find interesting or good enough - sometimes with the effect that the next day I realize it does sound pretty crappy >_< So in a way its not science enough for me personally to talk about it - or maybe I'm too perfectionistic too >_>

Because social media is a constant Media food. it's not something you just check out once in a while it's a constant discussion and flood of Media

Big layers makes for a good kick. And layering Of small layers as well. Need to ude lots of distortion and make tightness in the low and then you can feel the kick or layer. Otherwise you're not feeling it.

Ah I see. I kinda dodged most of the social media bullet, incl never getting an FB account. Should probably check out Discord at some point though.

Matter of taste I guess. I'm not a fan of too much layering. A bit ago I tried adding a sub to a bus and when I rose its volume, the bass became less due to phase cancellation - that was a funny situation. Some layering is necessary of course but that doesnt come close to describing why certain sounds are fat and others are not. i personally think it has to do with the different harmonics and overtones, how they are detuned and how they interact. But dunno. :dunno:
