So it doesn't matter how it sounds, you're always satisfied? :?

Of course I'm not always satisfied, I just appreciate different styles and genres. Just as there is shitty melodic hardstyle there is also shitty raw(er) hardstyle, there is also shitty oldschool (1999-2006) hardstyle. You get my point, I hope.

Now I will assume you ONLY listen to one style or maybe even one genre, does that satisfy you? Everyone has different tastes, some are narrower and some are broader.

Edit: To give more perspective, I dislike Country music, and most pop-music. I like some rock and heavy metal, and I also like some Hip-Hop/Rap. I personally can't be satisfied with only one genre, it just seems narrow or closed minded to do so. This doesn't mean I'm always satisfied.

Actually I listen to plenty of genres, yet I'm very picky. So yeah my taste is quite broad, from modern classical to crossbreed/industrial. But within industrial for instance I only like the slow tracks without too much distortion.

My point is, if a genre like hardstyle evolves into for instance country music and more and more releases are like country music and less and less are like the current hardstyle. Same for livesets, same for events. Then you just don't give a shit? A passion is being replaced by something you dislike? I loved the old hardstyle, which is being refered to as early hardstyle right now and I really dislike cheesy melodies, poppy vocals, long breaks, high pitching kicks and kicks with long tails. It's the same thing. And yes I can listen to other genres and I do listen to them, but still I miss that awesome sound of hard gated kicks, driving reverse basslines and strange noises that form a composition. What is weird about that? ;)

Well then I won't like it anymore, I move on and find something that I like. A good example would be how an influx of poppy hip-hop turned me away from the genre for a while. (Pop ruins everything huh?) . Don't get me wrong, I understand the feeling of change. This is unfortunately the same thing that has happened in many musical genre, look at rock, metal, hip-hop.

But should we bash everything that is produced that isn't in accordance to our musical preferences? Yes these producers made what you liked before, but for one reason or another all artists change their style one or multiple times in their career(s).

I loved old Metallica but new Metallica is meh, they aren't as relevant to me as before but now I have other bands that are. What is happening in Hardstyle was going to happen one way or another, with time new producers will appear that will make the music you prefer. It is unfortunate....but my complaining won't fix anything but make me look like a fool to newer listeners. Instead I have moved on to newer artists in many generes, or just listen to the older stuff until something good comes out.

Edit: There is nothing wrong with what you like or anything related to that. A lot of people here just seem like old grandpas saying "Back in my day, hardstyle was hard". Nothing is wrong with that, its just silly.

The Convicted wrote:I've realized my actual state of mind and mood affected to my taste, as for hardstyle (but as I see, in all kinds of music genres, not only hardstyle).

Just giving a simple explanation: a few years ago, I mostly listened to the melodic and euphoric hardstyle and I was afraid to take a listen to the raw or darkish side (it sounds kinda funny now lol), but as the years spent, the changes in my life, attitude and mentality, I moved to the other side and I'm less capable to enjoy the mainstream or happy melodic tracks, though I still don't hate them... but I was getting interested much more on the more rough sounding, wanted more and more of it and I'm here right now.

(Somehow I think it's a pretty obvious thing fading to the stronger style, as your feelings are changing, but anyway... :P)
I experience the same. Well, I have it in big time phases too, but my taste sometimes changes from a day to the other. Like one day I listen to happy hardcore, and the next day to crossbreed, industrial, and some dark spoontech stuff. Once I found myself liking a few WP tracks, actually o_O . And nowadays the same with commercial hardstyle. And 2 days ago I listened to a minimal set too :D It's just weird

Then I argue how big your passion for certain genres is. If for instance your passion is soccer, it's the thing you really love to do most. But due to an injury you'll never be able to play soccer again, would you just move on to another sport, which ofcourse can be fun too, without ever caring about soccer again? It's like a girlfriend you truely love, breaking up with you and you don't care at all. After all there are billions of girls in this world.

By the way complaining does actually help. Back when Tatanka did a remix for I kissed a girl, there were tons of complaints and for a moment nobody tried to push hardstyle in that direction. When the first Down With The Hardstyle preview was uploaded to youtube it got so many negative comments that they removed the track. And yes I know there are tons of pop remixes right now and DWTHS was reuploaded a year later, but that is because they are pushing the scene slowly, in such a way that the people that complain become a minority. Check the interview with Linda from Q-dance if you think I'm just making this up. Don't get me wrong, I think artists should produce whatever they like to produce and I don't care if Tatanka does a remix of I Kissed A Girl. I do care however about the fact that they are promoting it as hardstyle and with that pushing hardstyle in a direction it should not go in my opinion. And as I am a part of hardstyle too, I'm allowed to express my opinion about it.
