ALL WHO SEEK HARDSTYLE VOCALS, READ THIS

Post by R3cl41m3r »

I can predict the possibility of multiple "ERMAGHERD HER DER ER DER DUR HERDSTERR VERCRS" coming, so I've decided to make this attention-grabbing post to stop it before it starts.

First of all, there is no such thing as Hardstyle vocals; most "Hardstyle" vocals were made using various effects, such as distortion, chorus, backverb, etc. Most base vocals are done using three methods:
+ Recording one's own voice.
+ Paying a vocalist
+ Sampling from somewhere (e.g. a film or a game).
There are probably more methods, but these are the most common.

For those of you looking to acquire vocalists, Nikita has made an excellent tutorial here:

Good day to you all.

But don't you have to pay for copyright in that case?

Depends where you're sampling from.

Thanks for mentioning that. Then again, there's also Public Domain sources & (some) Youtube videos which are safe. :)

Finding voice samples is one of my favorite parts of producing, it's hard to imagine people actually have difficulty thinking of samples to use. In fact many times I will be watching a game or movie and hear a nice little bit and think "oh, I could make a track with that line."

When you say "sample them from a game or movie" how exactly do you get them? Is there somewhere where you can get an audio file?

Just play the game/watch the movie and tap the audio output.

this might be a dumb question, but is it really legal to sample audio (vocals or anything else) from a movie or game and use it in a track that will be released on a label?
