Re: KICKS | General, Troubleshooting, etc
Guys, need your help!
I'm trying to make a frenchcore kick and then pitch it in FL st. The problem is, when I use headphones, it all sounds ok, but once I switch to the loudspeakers it sounds like I'm hitting wong notes.
For kicks I use Microtonic + D-Stortion, Ochmicide,CamelPhat, WaveShaper and EQs, pitching in sampler e3 (or e2) mono, just adding cents (100 for a note). Even if I try dragging notes up and down it all sounds out of tune.
Most probably I'm doing something wrong, but can't figure out what and how to fix it.

you could check if your kick plays on the right note with GTune. also you need to check, if your subbass is on the same note like your tail
At this point, I would do what you said and make the bass separately. Also, your kick waveform seems fine. It doesn’t appear to be abnormal to me.Amplifire wrote: UPDATE: This is how the sample look when i combined the two layers without cut the bass. The low cut at around 20-30 hz didnt worked unfortunately. I am not sure if the waveform looks correct. In my opinion the bass is too strong and i would cut out now the bass out of the sample at around 40-50 hz and create my own subbass as a seperate sample. Then i combine with the tail. What you think guys?

One suggestion. In FL Studio sampler, there is an option called “Remove DC offset”. This is usually what I do if low cutting doesn’t work. It may change the bass sound slightly, but it does remove the waveform bias.

It's nice but layer a new distorted sub drum underneath to give it more low end power, and move it horizontally to taste if it doesn't work to put it directly under that layerNightblood wrote:Yo fellow Producer! I think it's about time someone discusses this - Timestamps
When you finally resample your kick and you split the punch and the tail, what length is your punch and what length is your tail usually? I'm really interested to know...
this is what I found sounds good:
Mid punch starts: 0:00:000
Mid punch ends: 0:00.173
Tail starts: 0:00.173 or 0:00.105 with a fade-in
Sub kick starts (If I replace or add sub): 0:00.082
