I'm not much at making kicks, but it sounds like a normal 'dong' kick (with a bit less dong than usual) with the bass layer sitting closer to the front of the mix (being more prominent) and the 'thud' placed further back. And of course there is a tok placed atop like a cherry.
I've always kinda had this idea that regardless of how many layers you use, the end result should appear as though it's a single, complete sound, not a combination of several played together. I got nothing against Frontliner or anything, but it sounds like a tok + bass, rather than a drum element with varying pitch.

If you can make something similar to the bass elements, the rest would be straightforward. As for how you would do that though, you'd need to ask someone with more skills than I.

smash fuck out of ure desk and record it :D

sorry that wasnt much help lmao, i have actually funnily enough, done that o_O

but honestly, for a nice sounding kick you should look it up on youtube
a guy called 'Yhimself' done a pretty nice tut on how to do a kick!
look it up and watch it, im sure there is also more, some of them are a complete waste of time by folk that dont have a clue what there doing though. Once i watched one and someone sampled a headhunterz kick and just distorted it and pitched the hell out of it and made it sound AWFUL! o_O

btw that was thanks to Stuart C that i got that 'Yhimself' Tut :D :P

I remember guys like dStylerz saying like: "Just fart in the mic man, record that and process it". Nowadays, they really do sound like farts. The key is layering, as Malicious Kode said before:

You can try with various punches straight out of Junglist (some presets, like Deep Kick & stuff), take Sylenth1, make a saw-squarish lead, lower it to the C3-C4 range, dist that, put a little attack on it so it doesn't come with the punch instantly. Then add some low subbass, any VST will do, you can also filter it with the Camelphat preset 'Just Subs', and now in your mixer channel (if you use fruityloops), route all FX to a new FX channel, put a multiband compressor on it. Don't forget to EQ every step before you continue, so u get most 'control' of your kick.

:O
Turn off your mind and turn on the madness.

I spoke with Frontliner last saturday. I asked him how he created his kicks. His answer: just do it.
I reacted: so you take a hammer and a piece of metal and smash it?
He: Yeah, and then I squeze my Parrot, give a kick to my microphone and you got a nice kick.

Well, you should try that :P.

Serious, he really said that (H)
